Pass Plus Courses The Barka Driving School Liverpool provides a structured program of the DSA Pass Plus course, which was introduced in 1995 by the Driving Standards Agency for new drivers. The Pass Plus course is not a driving test. To be eligible, drivers must complete the Pass Plus course and apply for the certificate within 2 years of passing the driving test. Statistics show drivers are more likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving lives. One new driver in five is involved in an accident in the first year of driving. This is mainly down to a lack of driving experience on different types of roads. Also designed to enable the driving instructor to help you improve driving skills and teach how to anticipate and deal with driving hazards, the PassPlus Course consists of 6 modules and covers at least 6 hours of targeted driving lessons in town driving, country driving, driving on dual carriageways, motorway driving, all weather driving and night time driving. Some modules are longer than others. The PassPlus course will boost hazard awareness, build on existing driving skills and allow the driver to gain valuable driving experience whilst learning how to deal with a wide range of traffic situations. Drivers are assessed throughout and must successfully complete the course to a required standard: Achieved  ⇒ achieved the standard required for each of the competencies Exceeded ⇒ exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies On completion of the Pass-Plus course, the driving instructor will give you a form to fill out. The form states what instruction you have received and that you performed at a suitably high standard. This form should be sent to the Driving Standards Agency who will issue a pass plus certificate. The Pass-Plus certificate can then be presented to your insurance company in exchange for a discount. The Pass Plus certificate issued by the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) can result in a substantial (up to 30% or even more) reduction in the car insurance premium from companies taking part in the scheme.
